Strength and Courage

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped."--Psalm 28:7

I have been reading up on this 16 year old who is trying to become the youngest person ever to sail around the world solo. You can find his blog here.

Zac Sunderland is trying to become the youngest person to ever sail around the world by himself. He is 16 years old and started out on June 14 and is in the middle of Pacific Ocean as we speak. He has dealt with the loss of alcohol for his stove, numerous technical glitches, dodging hurricanes, and the problem of ships getting into his sensor range.

It takes a lot of strength and courage to do what this young man is doing. Strength to take on the responsibility of keeping boat in good shape, cooking his own meals, keeping busy so he doesn't get bored, and keeping in touch with his family. Courage to overcome the fear of being alone on a boat, in the middle of the ocean.

However, we all need strength and courage. We all have challenges to face. Zac's challenge is the constant daily routine of his boat maintenance. Your challenge is definitely something different. Maybe facing a summer without a job, maybe a family member is sick, maybe you've just lost the will to continue.

Don't forget that God can be your strength and courage. Just ask Him. David said, "The LORD is my strength and my shield." You can too. Just call on His name and ask for the strength and courage that you need. And most times you'll get it.
