"My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verse for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer."--Psalm 45:1
I have been doing a bit of writing lately, and it's been for my music. My heart has been stirred by the noble theme of Christ's love for me and I haven't been able to stop writing these songs yet. Hopefully I will never quit. For one, it's a release for my soul. I can't help but write these songs of praise and adoration for my Lord. Secondly, it's a way for me to calm down from my days of stress.
Which brings me to my point. What has God stirred your heart to do? What verse are you reciting for your King? Now I don't mean poem, or song, or anything written, unless that's what you have been doing. But my question is again, what verse are you reciting for your King?
What is important in your life? That is the first question we have to ask before we find the verse. Do we care about earthly things, or do we care about God? What is most important? You see, what is most important in our life, is the verse we will recite. If we care more about what kind of car we drive, then we recite about the car. But does God really want to hear about the car we drive? I don't think God cares if we drive a Lamborghini. If God is most important, than the verse is about God.
God loves people who praise Him. We praise our King because we love Him. But singing and writing are not the only ways in which to praise Him. Your verse could be your love for others, by helping them. You could be helping in a homeless shelter, or caring for your sick friend or family member. Your verse could be doing the job you have been given to the best of your ability. Your verse could be praying for others.
The verse that you recite to your King is something between you and God. You may have several different verses, or you may have one. But God loves whatever you give Him. As long as it is with a cheerful heart, God knows that the verse you give, is the best in the world.
My verse is word and song, what's yours?
